Steven Harper

...is an artist, wilderness guide, consultant, and author. He has taught workshops at both Esalen Institute and Tassajara Zen Mountain Center for over a quarter of a century. As an amateur naturalist and avid explorer he has experienced much of the wild areas of Monterey County and its coast. Working as a wilderness guide he taught for the National Outdoor Leadership School and Outward Bound leading expeditions in wild areas on five continents. As a psychologist Steven’s work is inspired by a deep connection to inner wild nature where he has contributed and written in the emerging field of ecopsychology. He is the active father of two sons and co-creates with his partner, artist Janna Fournier. He combines his eclectic experience and love of wilderness in the formation of his creative works. Primarily self-taught, his paintings are in both corporate and private collections. A long-time resident of Big Sur, Steven built the home and studio where he paints and dances with the muses.
